Summer programs provide undergraduates from other institutions and Washington State University (WSU) the opportunity to contribute to scientific discovery, produce effective science communication for end users, and gain valuable career awareness and professional development. Mentored research in the Institute of Biological Chemistry (IBC) tackles significant basic research and applied research questions in plant biochemistry and agriculture by applying techniques that range from molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology to organismal, systems, and population approaches.
IBC programs partner with the WSU Office for Undergraduate Research to support and broaden our trainees’ experiences.
The following is a list of summer programs with IBC faculty recruiting this summer. For research training, summer interns are hosted in director labs or the labs of other faculty in the IBC, Crop and Soil Sciences, and Plant Pathology.
- NSF Plant Genome, contact director Laura Bartley
- WSU Hemp Research Internship, contact director David Gang
- USDA Improving Crop Resiliency in Changing Climate, contact directors Andrei Smertenko and Matt Peck
