Biography
In training programs and classrooms, Dr. Matt Peck implements research-informed programs and pedagogy that enhance the productivity and inclusiveness of STEM education and research ecosystems. He brings a protein biochemistry research background (PhD at Stanford University, postdoc at University of Oklahoma) and extensive, diverse teaching and program management experiences to this work. The majority of his current effort focuses on training program development. He coordinates an NIH-supported T32 graduate training program in Protein Biotechnology, co-directs a USDA-funded summer research experiences for undergraduates, contributes pedagogy for two NIH-funded undergraduate programs, and collaborates with faculty seeking external funding for new training opportunities. He leverages training and external funding to facilitate trainee counseling, faculty mentorship trainings, course instruction, program evaluation, and other implementations of research-based initiatives to improve research ecosystems. He builds and co-instructs modular courses for graduate students and participates in WSU-LIFT as a peer mentor and curriculum writer.
